Latin name: Pinus sylvestris  
Source country: Siberia  
Aroma: Green, fresh forest aroma.  
Appearance: Pale yellow thin liquid  
Derivation: Steam distillation of the fresh green needles from the tree. Steam  
distillation of the twigs and buds yields another type of pine oil which which is not pine  
needle but more of a disinfectant oil.  
Chemicals: The main constituents of pine needle oil are borneol, bornyl acetate,  
phallanderenes and pinenes, and 3 - carene. All of these give pine needle oil its physical  
Uses: It is an antiseptic oil and can be used for cuts and abrasions. It is used  
as a massage oil (in conjunction with other oils) for sore joints and muscles,  
and poor circulation.It is particularly useful for catarrh and congestive  
problems mainly by breathing the vapour. This helps healthy breathing. It is  
an uplifting oil and can help fatigue and tiredness. It should be used with  
care since it can sensitise some individuals when used on the skin  
Note: As with all pure essential oils, dilute appropriately with a suitable carrier oil  
before using on the skin. Do not take essential oils internally
